Blog Post Day 15

5/24/22, 20:30 Last day of senior project! In Tucker and I’s final day of senior project we spent most of the day in the library finishing up our presentation and self-evaluation essay. We got to the library at about 10 in the morning and worked until about 3:30 with a half an hour lunch break in the middle. We printed out everything we wanted to include on our poster board and designed it how we liked. We spent a lot of time cutting paper and printing which took up the majority of our time in the morning. After lunch we both worked towards our essays which I actually forgot to share with Kelly until a little after 7 but I got it in just in time. I came home tonight and finalized our poster board by gluing everything down and making sure everything is in line for tomorrow. I can’t wait for express fest tomorrow where we will be able to showcase all the hard work we’ve done over the past couple of weeks! Today Hours: 5 Total Hours: 63

Blog Post Day 14

5/23/22, 19:45 Today we were finally able to finalize and publish our website to the public! (Here’s the link to that, https://happywheelsdetailing.square.site ). We had some technical difficulties at first when we were trying to book but we figured it out. We have a come to you service as well as a physical location for our detailing so we were having some trouble with the scheduling side of things and such. We finally figured it out and we were able to book a couple family members and close friends for when we start on June 1st. After the completion of the website, I made a small infographic to go on our posterboard which was basically a summary of our website, all on a big piece of paper. I finished that and then we went to school to print it out with a lot of help from Hiedi. Our plan for tomorrow, and tonight, is to work on our self-evaluation essays and finish our poster board. We were unable to obtain business cards and t-shirts due to logistical problems, but our plan i...

Blog Post Day 13

5/22/22, 22:00 Today was another day of just doing our basic detailing process. We were able to detail another car today, as usual, while working towards some other stuff as well. We worked on one of my dads cars which took us just over four hours to do. It was a little messed up and old which is why it took us a little while but it came out pretty solid in the end. I know that Tucker and I are getting more efficient every day we detail and I’m ready to actually get into the busy summer. After the detail we looked into our poster design for our presentation and how we want to portray ourselves during express fest. Our goal was to make a business and do everything in our power to make it look like we started a business so our goal I think will be to make some of the poster what we did, while also incorporating an aspect of marketing and advertising. Are hope is to work on our presentation and finalize things as we move into the last few days of senior project. Day Hours: 5 Total...

Week 2 Reflection

Week 2 Reflection: For Tucker and I, this week was mostly about actually doing the detailing process, and finalizing the last touches on our website and legal documents. We started the week by finishing the majority of the website and working on our social media accounts. We were able to finalize a logo later in the week which made completing the website and social media accounts a lot easier and made them look a lot more professional as well. For their detailing prices, I think we both did a great job of jumping back into it, and getting a feel for what we did a little bit of last summer. Earlier in the week we went around to Concord and some other places to get new chemicals, a vacuum cleaner, microfiber towels, and other various sorts of materials that we were in need of. We took some of the time when we were detailing our cars, to figure out exactly what we needed to get, what we were missing, and what we didn’t really use to come up with an efficient and effective way of d...

Blog Post Day 12

5/21/22, 19:00 On a very warm Saturday in late May, I was surprisingly able to accomplish a good amount of work. Earlier this week we bought a smaller shop vacuum cleaner which I was able to assemble and get working this morning. I also did a little bit of organizing with the materials and supplies we have accumulated over the past couple weeks as well. Once I was done with some of the housekeeping tasks, I started to write a little bit of my self-evaluation paper so I can get ahead on that and not do it last minute. I then worked on my car a little bit as it needed some interior cleaning and wiping down from the spots I missed earlier this week and from a couple spills. Hopefully we can finalize a lot of the logistical things tomorrow and start working more on our papers and presentations as express fest approaches in a few days. I think we are in a good spot going into the last week and I’m excited to see the final product. Day Hours: 5 Total Hours: 47

Blog Post Day 11

5/20/22, 20:00 Today was a ordinary day for Tucker and I. We were able to detail another one of our families cars while still getting back into the swing of things. It took us about 4 hours, as it normally does, and we are slowly getting back into our efficient ways of detailing. We did a little work afterwards on our website and social media accounts and then we were off to school. There wasn’t a lot that we did today that we haven’t really done already, the car was in usual condition and it was just good practice to get working on our detailing abilities. Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher so hopefully our car cleaning abilities won’t be poorly influenced by the scalding May day. Oh I also forgot to mention that we bought a poster board and some supplies for our presentation during express fest. Day Hours: 5 Total Hours: 42

Blog Post Day 10

5/19/22, 22:00 Although a rainy day, Tucker and I were able to get a lot done today. We spent most of the day detailing one of our cars and did a full detail which we haven’t done in a very very long time. We always start with the interior and work towards the exterior to finish, however, the exterior came a little quicker as the rain was able to help us out. The whole process took us about just over four hours due to the rain and also the fact that we haven’t done a complete job in a little while. It went pretty well and we look forward to getting some more work done in the near future. We have our parents and a couple other clients lined up so it should be interesting to see where the next couple week go. Day Hours: 4.5 Total Hours: 37

Blog Post Day 9

5/18/22, 21:00 Today was a lot of driving around and gathering some needed supplies and materials for our business. We also started early to compensate for our last baseball game in the early afternoon. We drove to Concord and first went to Sam's Club. We specifically went there for only microfiber towels which is something we use a lot of. We got about 4 packs of 36 towels each which will realistically only last us about just over a week. After this, we went to Walmart to browse their selection of car cleaning supplies just to see if there was anything we needed. We ended up getting a small vacuum cleaner that will help us get in the nook and crannies of areas that our shop vacuum has trouble getting into. After this we looked around for some other stuff but we only needed a few things to prepare for our first actual detail tomorrow. We got home from Concord and recorded our purchases in our spreadsheet and stored the receipts in our business folder to keep track of our financ...

Blog Post Day 8

5/17/22, 20:00 Today Tucker and I finally did what we were made to do. After completing most of our logistical and legal tasks, we were finally able to detail some cars! We had a good breakfast and started with the interior of both of our vehicles. We vacuumed and wiped down the inside while also doing some work on the floor mats, headliners, and seats. We did a little of this last summer so it was kind of like reminiscing about the good old days. The scents of some of the chemicals brought me back to a time of scorching summer days and the old aroma of a 2004 Ford Ranger. It was really nice just to get back into the swing of things and get the muscle memory back for a full summer of detailing cars. We did this for a few hours and then planned out our day for tomorrow. We researched and made a list of supplies that we could have used today, and that we had been previously thinking about getting. Since we have a game tomorrow, it looks like we are going to have a rather short an...

Blog Post Day 7

5/16/22, 18:30 Today Tucker and I were able to accomplish a lot which enabled us to look more into our long term goals both within the senior project, and the upcoming summer. This morning I put most of the finishing touches on our website and Square account which only took about an hour or two. We are still in the middle of designing and refining a logo and once we have that. We will be able to finish the website, design our social media accounts, and create t-shirts and business cards. We were also able to create a Facebook account today in hopes of reaching the majority of our customer base through this realm of social media. Some of the stuff we ordered also came in today which helps us prepare for the detailing process in the next few days. We plan on detailing a couple cars tomorrow as we wait for our logo to be finalized, and as we wait to hear back from the state about our business registration. We are looking to be in good shape as we begin the second week of senior pr...

Week 1 Reflection

Week 1 Reflection: In Tucker and I’s first week on creating our business and building a business model, we were able to aspire to our desired goals and expectations. Although we got off to a slower than usual start due to AP exams, late work, and baseball, we were able to reach our expected goals for the week. We began the week by planning out our goals for our senior project and projecting how long certain things would take, while also strategizing for how we will orchestrate in the summer. Although some of our long term goals may flow into the summer, we still have a lot that we expected to accomplish before the conclusion of senior project. We began by registering our business under the name, Happy Wheels Detailing LLC, which was an interesting process to say the least. We learned that New Hampshire is one of the best states for starting a small business which very much helps for our position. Registering as an LLC was also the best move as we discussed this with our parents...

Blog Post Day 6

5/14/22, 22:00 We have yet to hear back from the state about our business registration but regardless, we were still able to get some work done on some other topics. We worked more towards the completion of our website which still needs a little work, but it is making some very good progress. We are also in the process of designing a logo and developing a slogan to use on our business cards, t-shirts, and website. Once we have these things figured out, our website and marketing strategies will be more fulfilled and professional which will put us in a better spot for success. As we continue to work toward this, we will hopefully get into finizaling some of our finances while also hoping to hear back from the state. We also plan on working on some cars in the middle of next week to get back into the groove of actually doing what our business is expected to do. We are making good progress heading into the second week and I am looking forward to seeing where we are in the coming da...

Blog Post Day 5

5/13/22, 23:00 As anticipated and in our goals for yesterday, we were able to accomplish a lot on this Friday the 13th. We began at our usual time of 9:30 and started to work on some social media accounts. We started an Instagram account under the name, happywheelsdetailing(which you should go follow), and we also made a Tiktok under the same name. This went fairly quickly as we organized our passwords and shared the account with each other so Tucker and I would both have access. Following this we put more work into our square website where we were able to link the Instagram account to the square website, to display some of our work and photos. We also worked on our pricing for packages that we include in our detailing, where we implemented these packages into set prices on our website. We explained what each package entails, how long it takes, and what we do for that specific package. We did some fake bookings on our website to make sure it was functioning properly, and then w...

Blog Post Day 4

5/12/22, 18:00 Today was a pretty productive day on the logistical side of things and really getting our business running. We began at around 9:30 this morning where we started to research how we wanted to classify our business. We decided on an LLC and we began doing more research, and filling out the necessary information online to attain this. Tucker and I discussed how the partnership was going to work and how the liability and responsibility will be shared within the company. Although this took a little while, we were able to get the registration completed and now it just has to get approved by the state. Concluding this, we worked towards more on our Square account while beginning to develop a website. We are also in the midst of a logo and making a slogan to make our website more aesthetically pleasing and professional. Tomorrow we expect to work more towards our social media accounts and to put more work in our website as well. We also hope to hear back from the state a...

Blog Post Day 3

5/11/22, 22:00 Tucker and I were up at about 9:30 this morning getting ready for a shorter day of research and planning due to a baseball game in the early afternoon. We worked from about 9:30 to 12, working on solidifying our company name, setting up different softwares, and ordering some products that we need for when we clean cars. We hit a roadblock when we were finalizing a name due to the fact that our, So Fresh, So Clean, Detailing, had a very similar name in, So Fresh and So Clean Detailing, so we had to think of a new title. We settled on the name, Happy Wheels Detailing LLC, which we would advertise as this name, but shortened it to Happy Wheels for the shorter company name. We thought this provided a fun, easy way for people to remember and catch on to our name. We were also able to set up an account on Square, where we will likely run most of our finances and booking through the app. We continued on a spreadsheet we had for some of our other finances as well. We ordered s...

Blog Post Day 2

5/10/22, 20:00 Today was a very productive day for Josh and Tucker’s senior project. We started at about 9:30 where we began to sort through and organize some of the materials and chemicals my dad had in his garage. Once we organized some of the products, we were able to create a list of some products we would need for when we start the actual detailing process. Tucker and I did this for about an hour to where we then transitioned into beginning our website construction and researching different softwares to use for this website, and our financial occupations. We researched for a couple hours, had some lunch, and then continued to work for about another hour on creating a spreadsheet to look at pricing and margins of possible products. We then headed to campus to meet with Kelly about our blogs, go to baseball practice, and had some dinner while we enjoyed the vastness of black flies on the Proctor Academy campus. Overall, it was a solid official start to our senior project and...

Blog Post Day 1

5/9/22, 21:00 First day of Senior Project! Lets go! Tucker and I started a little slow on our first day due to some AP Exam test tasking while also finishing up some of our last assignments for classes. Because of this we started at about noon today where we met with our mentor, Scott Allenby, to outline and discuss our goals, expectations, and tasks to complete in the coming weeks. We did this for about an hour to where we then transitioned into researching and planning to create our website and incorporate our logo. We were able to gather some templates and ideas to include on our website which we will hopefully construct throughout the next couple of days. Concluding our research, we went to baseball, ate dinner, and then came back to my house for an hour to see what materials and supplies we had around the house to start our detailing journey. Tucker and I were able to collect a small amount of my dads chemicals and microfiber towels to get a fresh start and see where our n...
